Projects

1. Portfolio Loss Triangle - Advanced Power BI & Snowflake Analytics

This project delivers a fully dynamic and highly optimized Portfolio Loss Triangle solution built for enterprise-level actuarial and financial analytics. It combines claims and premium data from Snowflake, real-time data modeling, advanced DAX calculations, and an interactive Power BI experience designed for senior leadership and actuarial teams.

The report includes both incremental and cumulative loss views, Loss and Loss Ratio analytics, accident-year KPI cards, development factor modeling, and a Python-based dynamic development chart. A hybrid architecture was used, integrating Snowflake materialized and secure views with Power BI’s Incremental Refresh to handle 10+ years of historical loss data at scale.

The interface uses dynamic slicers, buttons, and toggle-based navigation to switch between Loss, Loss Ratio, Net/Gross/Ceded/Assumed/Direct sources, and Incremental vs. Cumulative data tables. The result is a highly performant, audit-ready, and business-friendly analytics experience.

Cumulative Loss Triangle View

Project Deliverables:

  • Modelled claims and premium data from Snowflake using optimized SQL and secure/materialized views
  • Designed Power BI semantic model with Incremental Refresh (1 month refresh, 10 years archived)
  • Built dynamic Loss and Loss Ratio measures with advanced DAX logic using Dev Age, Accident Year, and time intelligence
  • Created Python-based dynamic Loss Development chart integrated directly in Power BI
  • Developed two synchronized views: Cumulative Data Table and Incremental Data Table
  • Implemented slicer-based automation for Metric Type, Metric Description, Loss Source, and Accident Year views
  • Used buttons, bookmarks, and dynamic visuals to enable seamless navigation between views
  • Optimized report performance through query folding, model slimming, and hybrid storage modes
  • Coordinated with actuarial and finance leaders to validate accuracy of KPIs and development patterns

Technologies Used:

  • Power BI (Desktop & Service)
  • Snowflake (Secure Views, Materialized Views)
  • Advanced DAX (Dynamic measures, Dev Age logic)
  • Python Visuals in Power BI
  • Incremental Refresh (Hybrid Models)
  • Power Query (Query Folding, Parameterized M scripts)
  • Bookmarks, Slicers & Dynamic Buttons
  • Azure DevOps for versioning and deployment

2. SharePoint Migration and PowerApps Form Creation

The project involved migrating an on-premise SharePoint site to SharePoint Online and creating a PowerApps form integrated with a SharePoint list. The process began with an assessment of the existing SharePoint environment, followed by meticulous planning and execution of the migration using the SharePoint Migration Tool and PowerShell scripts. Data integrity and minimal downtime were prioritized during the migration. Once the migration was complete, SharePoint Online settings and permissions were configured to match the organization's needs. A PowerApps form was designed and developed, integrating seamlessly with a SharePoint Online list. The form included custom validation and logic to ensure data accuracy and user-friendly interactions. After thorough testing, the form was deployed for use. Technologies utilized in this project included SharePoint Online, SharePoint Migration Tool, PowerShell, PowerApps, and Microsoft 365.
